Assistant Instructor

The PADI Assistant Instructor course is the first portion of the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC).  You’ll not only gain additional experience as a PADI Professional but you’ll also start learning the PADI System of diver education.

What can PADI Assistant Instructor do?

  • Teach academic presentations under the indirect supervision of a PADI Instructor
  • Evaluate Open Water Diver surface skills under the indirect supervising of a PADI Instructor
  • Teach the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty course
  • Teach Project AWARE Specialty courses
  • Conduct PADI Discover Scuba experiences
  • Teach the PADI Bubble Maker
  • Teach the PADI Seal Team
  • Teach Emergency First Response after successful completion of an Emergency First Response Instructor course
  • Lead continuing education strudents on Specialty or Adventure Dives

Prerequisites:

PADI Dive master (or qualifying certification from another training organization)
60 Logged Dives
18 Years of Age
Current PADI Emergency First Response or CPR certification (or qualifying certification from another training organization)

Program:

Independent study (approximately 18 to 20 hours) is required by the Assistant Instructor Candidate
Approximately 35 hours of classroom, pool and Open Water
training

Course Fee:

$600 – Does not include Course Materials (IDC Crew-Pak)
$57.50 – 2008 Assistant Instructor Application Fee

Equipment: Personal Scuba Equipment or Rentals Available
